The 29th Legislature will convene at 10 a.m. in Ottley Legislative Hall on St. Thomas for a legislative session to consider nominations and bills, including the nomination of Manuel Gutierrez Jr. and Allie Petrus to the V.I. Port Authority board; Joseph San Martin and Lunsford Williams to the V.I. Public Services Commission; Vernon Finch to the V.I. Lottery Commission; J. Brion Morrisette to the CZM Commission on St. John; a zoning use variance for an indoor movie theatre in Havensight; an act relating to vehicles for hire; an act relating to back billing by the V.I. Water and Power Authority; an act requiring the V.I. Personnel director to prepare a list of all people hired during the fiscal crisis; an act allowing the transfer of fishing licenses; an act relating to the termination of parental rights; an act expanding the laws regarding monitoring and tracking sex offenders; an act instituting staggered terms and residency requirements for V.I. Board of Education members; an act relating to the purchase of property; an act allowing the governor to fill vacancies on boards and commissions; an act transferring Bournefield to the V.I. Housing Finance Authority; an act increasing the scope of practice and prescriptive authority for physician's assistants; an act relating to apprenticeship programs and their consistency with federal requirements; and an act authorizing the V.I. government to develop a sports complex in Frederiksted by executing contracts for its design, construction, financing and management.

Friday

The Senate Economic Development, Technology and Agriculture Committee will meet at 10 a.m. at the Legislative Annex on St. John to hear testimony about a bill to create the "Virgin Islands Government Transparency Act" and to get a status update on the V.I. Next Generation Network broadband initiative.
