Chairpersons Rupert Ross and Alecia Wells & Supervisor Abramson:
Please be advised that I have convened a panel of my senior Attorneys to conduct an investigation of the 2012 election cycle. The purpose of the investigation is intended to put to rest all the unfounded allegations of fraud, corruption and whatever other charges that have been levied. This is not intended to be a criminal investigation, but an opportunity for us to let the community know that we have heard their concerns and we have taken them serious. Throughout this cycle I and the U.S. Attorney have been receiving many complaints. I have tried to ignore them unless they contain some specific misdeed. However if we do not take some steps to seriously look into the complaints and media charges, the criticism of our Election System will continue. Therefore I believe that some action should be taken by this office to be able to say we have heard, we have investigate and we have valid conclusion.
At the end of the investigation I expect to receive a report from the panel and the report will be shared with the Boards of Elections. I hope that the Boards will accept this investigation in the spirit of our efforts to strengthen the important institution of the Election System.
Vincent F. Frazer, Esq.
Attorney General of the Virgin Islands
