18 new officers join V.I. law enforcement ranks

ST. THOMAS - During a ceremony Friday morning at the Mark Marin Center at Antilles School on St. Thomas, 18 new officers joined the ranks of law enforcement after graduating from the police training academy.

The members of Police Recruit Class 2013-14 will be employed in various departments, with 14 of them joining the V.I. Police Department. The others will work in law enforcement for the Department of Planning and Natural Resources, the Waste Management Authority and the V.I. Fire Service.

On hand for the new officers' graduation were Gov. John deJongh Jr., Police Commissioner Rodney Querrard Sr., St. Thomas-St. John Police Chief Darren Foy, St. Croix Police Chief James Parris and St. John Deputy Chief Maria Colon-Jones.

The new V.I. Police officers are:

- Raynell Bell

- Jahbari Burton

- Clifford Callwood

- Vernon Carr

- Jermaine Carty

- Racquel Dover

- Tianna Hunt

- Yordona Loblack

- Jamillia Norris

- Jesse Piche

- Tredesha Pierre

- Shenika Simon

- Lenisha Smith

- Cher-val Thomas

Additionally:

Kevin Turnbull will join DPNR.

Sherise Smith and Serena Williams will work for the V.I. Fire Service.

Nadine Todman joins the Waste Management Authority.
