ST. THOMAS - Two development companies have expressed intent to build marinas in Coral Bay, St. John, despite doubt about legal and environmental hurdles and the mixed opinion of residents who may want to preserve the rural character of the bay.

At the Coral Bay Community Council's last two monthly meetings, Summer's End Group, a local company started in 2009 for the purpose of creating a vacation destination on St. John, has presented ideas about building a marina on parcels of land near the Coco Lobo shopping center.
