2 V.I. soldiers deploy to Kuwait

ST. CROIX - The V.I. National Guard conducted a deployment ceremony on Saturday afternoon for two airmen of the 285th Civil Engineering Squadron who are heading for a six-month deployment to Kuwait.
For safety and security reasons, the National Guard requested that the names of the two airmen not be released.
Maj. Michael Hinrichsen hosted a deployment farewell ceremony on Saturday at the Air National Guard base in the Roebuck Industrial Park. Among the speakers during the ceremony was Col. William Sherrill, chief of staff for the Air National Guard; Command Master Sgt. Cutiell Young, the chief of maintenance; Command Master Sgt. Neville Lee, the command chief; and Maj. Gen. Renaldo Rivera, the V.I. adjutant general.
The 285th Civil Engineering Squadron is a unit of the V.I. National Guard. Since Sept. 11, 2001, unit members have deployed to varied contingency of operations worldwide.
