ST. THOMAS - A man was filling his tires with air Tuesday evening when three men robbed him of his belongings, V.I. police reported.

Just before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, the robbers took the victim's cell phone and wallet, according to V.I. Police spokeswoman Melody Rames. The men surrounded him while he was next to his car at the Puma gas station in Estate Thomas, Rames said.

One of the robbers hit the victim's head with a gun, Rames reported.

The men fled in a vehicle that the victim could not identify, and the victim was treated at the Schneider Hospital for a laceration to his head and later released, Rames said.

Police did not say whether the victim was able to identify any of the physical characteristics of the men who surrounded then robbed him.
