ST. THOMAS - Moments after being shown a 2008 photograph of her and her father overlooking Magens Bay, Preslee Sukow burst into tears.
"I didn't believe it," Sukow said when asked what went through her mind in September 2008 when she learned her father, Marcus Sukow, had been shot and killed by a federal agent in St. Thomas' Mahogany Run Condominiums. "It still doesn't -"
District Judge Curtis Gomez called for a five-minute recess to allow Preslee Sukow to compose herself before finishing her testimony. Wearing a black dress, the blonde 19-year-old from Missouri took the stand on the first day of a civil trial in which her father's estate is seeking compensatory and punitive damages from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and ATF agent William Clark.
