ST. THOMAS - The Coast Guard Auxiliary is offering a boating safety class for beginners from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 22 at the Coast Guard Station on the waterfront on St. Thomas.

The boating class provides the knowledge needed to obtain a boat license or safety certification in the territory, and many insurance companies offer discounts on boat insurance to those who successfully complete the class.

The course is free, but there is a $40 charge for class materials.

For more information or to sign up, call Deb Bundy at 998-9227.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary is the all-volunteer, civilian arm of the U.S. Coast Guard, providing assistance to the Coast Guard in the areas of public education, search and rescue and port security.
