ST. THOMAS - Crews from the V.I. Next Generation Network should be finished today tearing up the road near Mafolie Hill on St. Thomas.

The crews were working this week on a stretch of concrete road where they initially laid down broadband cable but never fully filled the concrete in over the cable, according to the company's president, Larry Kupfer.

The road should be completely smooth now, he said.

Additionally, workers also were opening up a manhole that the company had agreed would be accessible to the territory's utility company.

V.I. Water and Power Authority crews took advantage of the work being done this week and accessed the manhole to splice fibers in the cable and connect them to their own utility, Kupfer said.

"It allows them to connect," Kupfer said.
