ST. CROIX - The staff and management at the Buccaneer Hotel, have a lot to be proud of after the resort was ranked No. 4 on the list of best family resorts in the Caribbean, Bermuda and Bahamas, and is the top-rated family resort in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The high accolades come from Travel & Leisure Magazine's 2012 World's Best Awards readers' survey.
"It is an honor to be recognized by Travel & Leisure's discerning readers as their favorite family resort in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and to rank fourth on a list of just 10 distinguished, family-friendly Caribbean resorts" said Elizabeth Armstrong, The Buccaneer's owner and general manager.
Armstrong's grandparents founded The Buccaneer in 1947, and the resort is celebrating its 65th anniversary this year.
She said The Buccaneer is proud that they are able to offer family-friendly amenities that parents want most when they go on vacation, such as connecting rooms with seasonal discounts and complimentary kids camp with trained counselors, indoor and outdoor activities, lunch and its own clubhouse.
She said they keep the entire family in mind when they provide amenities such as a complimentary buffet breakfast each morning, a weekly Sugar Mill party and refreshing fruit and rum punch for their guests upon check in. Special family activities and packages also are available.
The Buccaneer has 138 rooms and suites, and its resort offers a boutique hotel, which is situated on 340 acres right on the water's edge. Accommodations are located in the signature pink Great House, which can be seen from Christiansted. More accommodations are on two of the three beaches, and on ridges overlooking the sea, gently-rolling golf greens and an acclaimed tennis center. The resort has two swimming pools, three restaurants, a renovated spa and fitness center and a designer boutique.
The results of the 2012 World's Best Awards readers' survey of the world's top family hotels are listed on www.TravelandLeisure.com and in the September issue of Travel and Leisure magazine.
