The Anderson Family Fund at the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands has added two new $5,000 grants for teachers in the 2013 school year.
The grants are available for teachers or administrators who submit a collaborative school-based proposal that is inclusive and creative. Teachers, assistant teachers and guidance counselors in the public school system of the U.S. Virgin Islands also are eligible to apply for traditional Anderson Teacher Grants, which range from $250 to $1,000, to implement an innovative project in their classroom or school.
Applications for the 2013 Teacher Grants are now available.
Funding of the grants will be awarded on a competitive basis for projects that seek to improve student achievement. Priority will be given to proposals in which students are directly involved in the project, the project description is clear and well-organized, creative strategies and activities are used to improve student learning, outcomes are measurable and substantive and the budget is realistic.
All proposals must be submitted to CFVI no later than 5 p.m. Sept. 27.
To receive an application form, go to www.cfvi.net under the grants section or send a request to email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Successful applicants must agree to submit a brief written report, receipts for expenditures and, if possible, visual documentation, on the use of the grant at the end of the funding period. Any applicant who was a recipient of a 2012 Anderson Teachers Grant must have submitted a written final report on the use of the 2012 grant in order to be eligible for a grant in 2013.
