ST. THOMAS - Some effects of the looming sequester have already begun to trickle down to various local and federal agencies in the territory, but much remains uncertain as Congress figures out how it plans to deal with about $85 billion in federal spending cuts set to automatically go into effect during the next seven months.
However, the sequestration could prove to be "terrible" for the Virgin Islands, according to Delegate to Congress Donna Christensen.
The sequester is scheduled to go into effect Friday, and if it does, it would "affect everybody in one way or another," Christensen said.
"At a time when our territory can least handle another negative impact, we would be hit again," she said Tuesday.
