Elections officials anticipated that they would finish certifying voting machines in both districts on Friday evening.
With the primary election just a week away, the V.I. Elections System will be training election officials and poll workers during the next few days.
"We are still preparing for the primaries," Supervisor of Elections John Abramson Jr. said Friday night. "We will be preparing for the next six or seven days."
Training for election officials, such as judges, inspectors, clerks and monitors, started Friday on St. Croix and will continue today and Monday. Similar training is scheduled on St. Thomas for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Abramson said.
Abramson said that the Elections System may be slightly behind where it usually would be at this point in preparing for a primary election, but he attributed that to some relatively new senior staff members who have just come on at Elections in the last couple of years.
"But we will be working as diligently as possible, and I believe by the 8th of the month we will be where we need to be," Abramson said.
The primary election is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 8.
