ST. CROIX - Police released information Wednesday about an armed robbery reported during the early morning hours last weekend.
V.I. Police spokeswoman Melody Rames issued a release Wednesday afternoon that criminal investigators are following up on an incident that was classified as a first-degree robbery at 12:45 a.m. Sunday in Estate La Grange.
A man reported to police that he was sitting inside his vehicle outside the Festival Village when two men approached him, according to Rames. The man told police that one of the men pointed a gun at him and robbed him of his 30-inch gold link chain, his gold-and-diamond Citizens watch and two other gold chains.
Rames said the man told police that the jewelry was valued at more than $2,000.
He said the suspects were wearing all black and one had on a mask. The victim said that when the suspects were leaving, one hit him in the head with the gun, causing a laceration.
The victim was treated and released from Luis Hospital, according to Rames.
No arrests have been made, Rames said, and anyone with information can call police at 911 or the Crime Stoppers USVI tip line at 1-800-222-8477.
