ST. THOMAS - At 95, Dada Vaswani knows a thing or two about love.
For 16 years, Vaswani has been visiting the territory to share sage advice about life. He has focused on a new topic each year, and this year, he is going to focus on the four letter l-word.
Vaswani will speak at 7 p.m. today in the Grand Ballroom of the Marriott's Frenchman's Reef Beach Resort. The event is free, and guests are asked to be seated by 6:45 p.m.
"There are a few families that consider him their guru," said Pash Daswani, vice president of the India Association of the Virgin Islands.
The association, which sponsors Vaswani's visit each time, is a group to keep alive the Indian culture within the territory. About 500 Indians currently live in the territory, Daswani said.
Vaswani, who also is from India, is a leader to many of them, and while he is somewhat of a spiritual leader to many of them, his talks are relative also to those who may not follow him spiritually.
"He doesn't really promote religion. He promotes practicality with a spiritual background," Daswani said.
Vaswani, just in the last week, also made appearances in Miami and Panama. He gives presentations worldwide and has received praise from everyone from Pope John Paul II to the Dalai Lama.
