While installing a utility pole on St. John on Monday, an Innovative work crew accidentally knocked out service to about 200 customers.

Innovative spokeswoman Jennifer Matarangas-King said Innovative was assisting the V.I. Water and Power Authority in installing a utility pole when a digger truck damaged a major cable on the east end of St. John.

The cable damage affected About 200 telephone and Internet customers in the Hansen Bay and Hollover areas, she said.

Crews worked on-site to fix the problem, and all service was restored by Monday evening, Matarangas-King said.
