In two letters of resignation dated Jan. 24, the Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Insular Affairs Anthony Babauta cited numerous accomplishments but gave no reason for his decision to leave the Department of Interior amid allegations of financial misconduct.
Babauta's resignation comes after the Office of the Inspector General for the Department of the Interior opened an investigation in November that prompted officials to place Babauta on leave.
