Labor Dept. accepting LIFT intern applications

The V.I. Labor Department is now accepting applications for the Labor Investing for Tomorrow - LIFT - summer internship program.

Now in its 25th year, the LIFT program provides college juniors, seniors and graduate students with meaningful work and internship experience in their chosen career fields. Interns can gain college credits, acquire hands on-training, and will have the opportunity to network with professionals in their respective careers.

LIFT interns will be paid $11 (undergraduate) and $12 (graduate) per hour for up to 35 hours per week. All LIFT interns will be required to participate in a community service activity either individually or as a team project.

To be eligible, students must currently be a college junior, senior or a graduate student; must have a minimum GPA of 2.80 on a 4.00 scale; and must be between the ages of 18-25.

The application deadline is March 21.

Applications can be obtained from any Labor Department offices or by sending an email to lift2014@vidol.gov.

For more information, call the Labor offices on St. Thomas at 776-3700 or on St. Croix at 773-1994 ext. 2140.
