ST. CROIX - Police are continuing to investigate a shooting on Sunday night that left one person injured.
Acting St. Croix Police Chief James Parris said Tuesday that emergency dispatchers received a call of shots discharged at 9:24 p.m. Sunday and emergency medical responders and police were sent to the Mutual Homes housing community in Estate Grove Place.
Once there, officers identified the location of the shooting near one of the buildings but learned that the gunshot victim had been transported to Luis Hospital in a private vehicle, according to Parris.
One person was shot and suffered a single gunshot wound that was not considered to be life threatening, Parris said.
Based on information gathered at the scene, not too long after the shooting, investigators found a vehicle in the nearby Lorraine Village housing community that they suspect was used during the shooting, according to Parris.
Parris said the investigation still is ongoing and no arrest has been made at this time.
Anyone with information about the shooting can contact police at 911 or call the Crime Stoppers USVI anonymous tip line at 1-800-222-8477.
