Man shot to death in Mutual Homes housing community

ST. CROIX - Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old man as he sat in front of an apartment building in Mutual Homes housing community Thursday night.
V.I. Police spokeswoman Melody Rames said Friday that Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives are investigating the fatal shooting that was reported about 8:45 p.m. Thursday. She said the victim has been identified as Kendall Freeman, who was shot several times while in the vicinity of Building 13 in the housing community on the western boundary of Estate Grove Place.
Rames said the victim was sitting on a chair outside the building when police arrived on the scene, and he was unresponsive and bleeding, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical technicians on the scene said the victim did not have any vital signs when they arrived. He was removed from the scene by medical personnel and pronounced dead.
Police have released no information on any possible motive for the killing.
Freeman's death was the 31st homicide recorded in the territory this year.
In 2013, there have been 15 murders recorded on St. Croix and 16 on St. Thomas.
