Man wounded in Kirwan Terrace shooting

ST. THOMAS — Police are investigating a shooting in Kirwan Terrace housing community that took place just after midnight Friday morning.

Virgin Islands Police Department spokeswoman Melody Rames said authorities were notified at 12:04 a.m.

The victim told investigators that he was walking home when he heard the sound of gunshots. The man realized he was hit and ran home. Police found him at his house with a gunshot wound on his lower back, Rames said.

The victim was taken to Schneider Hospital by ambulance. He was admitted and is receiving treatment for his injury, Rames said.

The man was unable to identify his shooter and police are turning to the public for help in solving the crime.
