ST. CROIX - Police continue to investigate an armed robbery reported during the weekend in which a man was robbed of $2.
V.I. Police spokeswoman Melody Rames said Tuesday that a man told police he was robbed just before midnight Saturday near the Coconuts Bar in the Paradise and Mount Pleasant area.
She said the man told police that he and a friend were standing outside the bar when two masked men approached them and said "give me everything."
One man told the robbers that they did not have anything while handing them $2, and the armed robbers then fled the area and fired at least two shots into the air as they left, according to Rames.
No one was injured.
Rames said the men told police that the armed robbers were wearing all black clothing and black masks. They were both about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and of average build.
Rames said the incident is classified as a first-degree robbery and is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives. Anyone with information about the crime can call police at 911 or call the confidential tip line at Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-8477.
