Meetings to be held on Endangered Species designation for corals

ST. CROIX - The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will hold public hearings in the territory this week on proposed listings of Caribbean coral species under the Endangered Species Act.
The NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service proposal is to list 66 coral species - including seven species found in the Caribbean - under the act, and to reclassify two additional species that already are listed as threatened to endangered.
