Motorcycle rider dies in collision with pickup truck on St. Croix

ST. CROIX - V.I. Police Traffic Investigation Bureau officers are investigating a fatal traffic accident involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck that occurred early Wednesday morning.

V.I. Police spokeswoman Melody Rames said Wednesday evening that the collision took place just after 7:30 a.m. in the area of the Upper Love intersection on Queen Mary Highway.

Based on preliminary reports, the pickup truck was traveling south on the Upper Love Road to the east of the Department of Agriculture when it collided with a motorcycle that was traveling west on Queen Mary Highway.

Rames said the man riding the motorcycle died as a result of the collision. His identification has not yet been made public by police, pending notification of his next of kin.

The driver of the pickup truck was interviewed at the scene, and Rames said traffic investigators have indicated that as the investigation progresses additional information may be released to the public.
