ST. THOMAS - A motorcyclist was hospitalized after an with a car on Alton Adams Drive on Thursday morning.
The motorcyclist, a man whose name was not released by police, was taken to Schneider Hospital immediately after.
The motorcyclist and the car collided in front of the post office just before 9 a.m., according to police.
The driver of a black Acura was making a right turn onto Alton Adams Drive from Perimeter Road, the road between the Aubrey C. Ottley Post Office and Schneider Hospital, according to police.
At the same time, a red Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling east on Alton Adams Drive.
As the Acura was completing its turn, the motorcycle collided with the Acura, police said.
"I heard the noise," said Dale Francis, who lives around the corner from where the accident happened. "It was about two months ago that a car and another motorcycle crashed here. People need to be mindful."
Francis did not see the incident, though other bystanders said that the motorcyclist appeared to be severely scraped up by the collision.
At the scene of the accident, the motorcycle lay on the road with liquid leaking from it, and the Acura's entire back window was broken out.
V.I. Traffic Investigation officers are investigating the incident. Police did not say whether they believed alcohol to be involved.
