ST. CROIX - The V.I. Water and Power Authority Executive Board signed off on documents Thursday that give Executive Director Hugo Hodge Jr. the permission to proceed with plans to enter into a contract to purchase fuel for the territory for the next two years.

Hodge said the contract establishes a minimum one-year relationship with Trafigura AG, based in Switzerland, to supply No. 2 fuel oil for WAPA's Richmond plant on St. Croix and Randolph E. Harley plant on St. Thomas, with an option for a nine-month extension.
