ST. THOMAS - A team of more than 20 federal and local law enforcement officers toiled in the wilds of St. Thomas and St. John last week on a four-day marijuana eradication operation that seized more than 5,000 plants.
On Thursday, part of the team was deployed on a thickly wooded hill in Bovoni. U.S. Marshals in sweat-soaked shirts used machetes to hack their way through the underbrush and vines en route to an established marijuana grow spotted by a helicopter above.
