The V.I. Public Works Department, in conjunction with the Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division, is holding an information session related to upcoming design-build projects in the territory, to address the procedures and requirements associated with the design-build process for federal aid projects.
The information session, for contractors interested in bidding Federal Aid Design-Build projects, is scheduled for 9 to 11 a.m. March 18 at UVICELL, No. 2 John Brewers Bay on St. Thomas.
St. Croix residents can attend the session remotely via teleconference at the University of the Virgin Islands St. Croix campus in Room 807 at the Evans Center.
The meeting will begin with a presentation, followed by an open forum to discuss specific issues and answer questions.
According to Government House, a USVI project currently is posted on the Federal Business Opportunities website, www.fbo.gov, that will be procured as a design-build contract, with others to follow.
This process will enable the Public Works Department to deliver projects to construction much sooner than the traditional Design-Bid-Build process, according to Government House.
