Services will be Monday for Robert Daniel Brooks, 79, who died Dec. 18, 2011, at his residence in Anna's Retreat.

The first viewing will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Davis Funeral Home. The second viewing will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Philadelphia Seventh-day Adventist Church on Raphune Hill, with services following at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Eastern Cemetery.

Brooks was born on the French island of St. Martin. He was a former employee at the V.I. Housing Authority in the 1970s and 1980s. He was a stonemasonry construction worker and built many stonewall structures on St. Thomas and in Georgia. He enjoyed planting in his garden and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Claudina "Clad" Marianne Brooks; sons, Faustin "Atam" Brooks, Vincent "Ashanti" Brooks, Jean "John" Brooks and Marcellin "Marcell" Brooks; daughters, Wenceslas "Wency" Brooks-Smith, Oliva Brooks and Chantal Brooks; sons-in-law, Winston Smith and Warren Penny; daughters-in-law, Monica Brooks, Gwendolyn Brooks, Lisa Babcock and Patricia Potter; grandsons, Kwame Smith, Jose "Junie" Camacho Jr., Terique Smith, Brandon Hinton, Jason Hinton, Torian Brooks, Jahreese Brooks, Jah'Paul Brooks, Maliik Brooks and Jah'Vince Brooks; granddaughters, Nathalie Potter, Chanique Smith, Darrah Hinton, Janea Brooks, Tianna Brooks and Amelia Brooks; great-grandchildren, Kemoi and Kaleena Potter, Taevon Hinton, Terique Jr., Taariq, Tyrique, Tyrece and Kalishia Smith and Alexis Prentice; grandsons-in-law, Kevin Potter and Mervin Prentice; granddaughters-in-law, Tatiana Smith, Vester Smith, Sheenel Camacho and Ronica Jetton; adopted grandson, Darius Smith; sister, Josiette "Jo Jo" Brooks-Hamelet of St. Martin; stepsister, Adamise Thomas Denton; brothers-in-law, Henry George and Lucien "Ton Ton" George; sisters-in-law, Siovese Barrot, Armelle Richardson, Vutha Richardson, Elcia Richardson, Valentine George and Theolinda George-Frias; special-in-laws, Vaple "Joan" George and Melanise "Melon" George; nieces, Charlesia Brooks and family, Lea Gumbs and family, Dafine Richardson and family, Aline Brooks and family, Julienne Bryan and family, Rosette Brooks Lake, Jaqueline Hamelet and family, Rosalie Hamelet and family, Rosaline Hamelet and family, all of St. Martin; nephews, Ferdinant Brooks and family, Guy Bryan and family, Donald Brooks and family, Remy Hamelet and family, Raymond Hamelet and family, Ronald Hamelet and family and Rodrique Hamelet and family, all of St. Martin; many cousins, including Josette "Vetalise" Baly and family, Galvani Lake and family and Raphael Baly and family; other siblings and relatives in the Dominican Republic; relatives, Brooks, Smith, Camacho, Hinton, Potter, Prentice, George, Baly, Reiph, Richardson, Flanders, Barrot, Duzanson, Heyliger, Lake, Bryan, Gumbs, Hodge, Hamelet, James, Maccaw, Bailey and Heyliger; and many other relatives and friends.
