ST. THOMAS - A second victim wounded in a shooting Saturday night near an anti-crime rally in Frenchtown died Tuesday morning.
Police identified the second victim as Alphonso Queeman, 22.
Andre Christian, 27, was found unresponsive at the scene of the shooting, which occurred just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Christian later was pronounced dead by medical staff at Schneider Hospital.
Queeman was transported by private vehicle to the hospital and had been in critical condition Monday.
Police said both victims were shot multiple times. The victims were at the rear of the Frenchtown fish market when a verbal argument turned physical and shots were fired.
Police spokeswoman Melody Rames did not know whether the victims were in an argument with each other, or whether they were arguing with other people.
The shootings occurred during a "Night Out Against Crime" event hosted by the V.I. Law Enforcement Planning Commission, which is a V.I. Justice Department entity that administers federal grant money targeted at reducing crime and assisting victims of crime.
