ST. THOMAS - Four of the governor's nominations were confirmed by legislators, filling some key boards in the territory's government.

The nominations of Roberto Cintron to the V.I. Port Authority board; Prakash Daswani to the V.I. Historic Preservation Commission St. Thomas-St. John District; and Johann Clendenin to the V.I. Public Services Commission; along with the renomination of Keith O'Neale Jr. to the Public Finance Authority board all passed the Senate unanimously during Thursday's legislative session.

Clendenin is the founder, president and chief executive of Inner Circle Logistics, which operates as the Inner Circle Group and is an Economic Development Commission beneficiary. He was a Harvard professor and served as a member of the National Research Council's Committee on Supply Chain Integration.

Clendenin served in the U.S. Marine Corps; holds graduate degrees in psychology, communications engineering and business administration; and has served on numerous boards and commissions.

Cintron served as the assistant commissioner of Public Works for more than five years. He holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Florida.

Currently, Cintron is president of Jay-Ro-Mar, Inc. and a co-owner of New Wave Development, he said. He also has been providing private engineering consulting, land development and survey services while serving as a board member on the Board of Land Use Appeals.

Daswani has owned and operated Lucky Jewelers since 1992. He is the vice president of the India Association of the Virgin Islands and has previously served on the St. Thomas-St. John Chamber of Commerce.

On his application, Daswani said that his goals for his time on the commission are to clean up the signage in the historic district and address the barker issue and the regulations for awnings in the district.

He has a degree from Howard University and owns O'Neale's Transport Inc. He also serves on the V.I. Next Generation Network board and has served on the St. Croix Environmental Association board and the Country Day School board.
