Senators override veto on rezoning of St. Croix land

ST. THOMAS - The 30th Legislature on Thursday overrode a gubernatorial veto to rezone a plot of land on St. Croix.
Sen. Alicia Hansen moved to override Gov. John deJongh Jr.'s veto of the rezoning of Plot No. 303 Clifton Hill from R-2, residential low-density one- and two-family to B-3, business scattered. The owner proposes building a convenience store.
Those voting in favor of the override included Senators Judi Buckley, Diane Capehart, Kenneth Gittens, Clifford Graham, Hansen, Shawn-Michael Malone, Terrence Nelson, Nereida Rivera-O'Reilly, Clarence Payne III, Tregenza Roach and Sammuel Sanes. Senators Craig Barshinger and Myron Jackson did not vote, and Sen. Donald Cole was absent.
