Shooting death is St. Croix's first homicide of the year

ST. CROIX - Police are investigating a shooting death that occurred in the middle of the afternoon Saturday in a Christiansted housing community.
It was the third homicide in the territory in 2013 and the first on St. Croix.
The fatal shooting occurred just after 3 p.m. in the David Hamilton Jackson housing community and left Winston Phillips, 24, of the nearby Bassin Triangle area, dead, according to V.I. Police spokeswoman Melody Rames.
