ST. CROIX - An employee who was shot during a robbery at a metal works in Estate Glynn on Thursday morning was the second person shot on the island in two days.

The two incidents are separate and not related.

St. Croix Police Chief James Parris said that the shooting Thursday morning occurred while two masked robbers held up the Emmanuel Metal Works in Estate Glynn.

The crime was reported to police at 8:33 a.m. Thursday.

During the robbery, one of the employees was shot twice, in the right shoulder and arm, according to Parris. The employee was taken to Luis Hospital for treatment. The robbers got away. Parris did not say how much they stole.

The robbers were wearing camouflage clothing with a black covering over their faces, he said.

In the other incident, a man was shot at a nightclub in Estate Welcome early Wednesday. The shooting was reported at 3:38 a.m. Wednesday.

The man was taken to Luis Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the leg.

Police are investigating both crimes. Parris said that anyone with any information about the crimes can contact detectives at 712-6037 or 911, or call the Crime Stoppers USVI anonymous tip line at 1-800-222-8477.
