ST. THOMAS - After about 65 years in business in the Virgin Islands, St. Johns Bay Rum has opened its first exclusive retail store on St. Thomas.

Located in the A.H. Riise Mall facing Veterans Drive, the St. Johns Bay Rum store offers a full line of fragrances that are made locally on St. Thomas.

The store also features high end sportswear and formal suits and jackets for men.

"We're starting a line of clothing to go along with our fragrances," said Manager Joe O'Hara.

The retail store has been opened for three months and O'Hara said he hopes the Virgin Islands will enjoy their products.

He said the formal menswear is made by Southwick - the company that produces high end products for Brookes Brothers - and F.A. MacClure.

The shop can do complete fittings in house for suits and sport coats, O'Hara said, and will keep sizes on file for local clients.

"We're really looking into bringing in the local population," he said.

To that end, the store is running two special promotions.

A $100 drawing will be held for local customers monthly. Just stop by and fill out an entry or drop a business card.

The store will also hold a buy-one get-one-half-off-sale from July 25 to 30.
