ST. THOMAS - The last batches of milk and ice cream were being shipped out from St. Thomas' eponymous dairy Monday, making it the latest Virgin Islands business to succumb to skyrocketing utility costs.
Trans-Caribbean Dairy Corp., better known as St. Thomas Dairies, received notice from the V.I. Water and Power Authority that its power would be cut off today, according to company President Fred Hintz. In an interview Monday, Hintz said the dairy owes WAPA "a large sum," though he declined to say how much.
