ST. THOMAS - A Bureau of Corrections inmate was arrested after he was caught with two cellphones in his basketball shorts, according to court records.
Tevorne Lake, 21, was arrested by a corrections officer after an inspection at 11:25 a.m. July 17. Court documents did not specify at which BOC facility on St. Thomas that Lake was located.
Lake most recently was charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm in November 2013, though court documents provided no known disposition.
Lake pleaded guilty to possession of an unlicensed firearm and second-degree reckless endangerment in 2012, after which time he was sentenced in March 2012 to two-and-a-half years incarceration.
In January 2012, Lake was acquitted of all charges in connection with a fatal shooting that took place Jan. 13, 2011, in Smith Bay.
In the second trial, jurors found Lake not guilty of first-degree murder and related charges in connection with the shooting death of Ras Haile Jahras Jah, 28, who was a childhood friend of Lake.
