Local musician Ron Rivera, known as Siras, was found dead Saturday in Smith Bay.

Rivera, 32, was found by family members near an abandoned home in an overgrown area of Smith Bay, according to a statement issued Tuesday by the V.I. Police Department.

Medical personnel said he may have died two to three days earlier.

Rivera's family told police he last was seen leaving his home Wednesday, and they had been searching for him for several days.

Police said they were notified of the discovery about 8:15 a.m. Saturday.

Police are investigating the death as an apparent suicide, although they are awaiting autopsy results that they hope will shed more light on the circumstances surrounding Rivera's death.

Rivera has been recording and performing music since 1998 and was a member of the reggae band Star Lion Family. In recent years he was known as a solo artist.
