V.I. suffers 49th, 50th homicides, surpassing territory's 2011 total

ST. THOMAS - With 69 days remaining in 2012, the Virgin Islands has surpassed the total number of homicides in the territory in all of 2011.
The shooting death Monday of Liston Powell Jr. was the territory's 49th homicide of 2012, and gunshots rang out at Ann Abramson Pier in Frederiksted about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, wounding one person and killing another - the territory's 50th homicide this year.
