The territory's estimated unemployment rate has fallen below 9 percent.
While that may seem like a good thing - a sign that more people are working in the territory - it also limits the extended unemployment benefits for the Virgin Islanders who remain out of work.
An unemployment rate of 9 percent is the federal threshold for Tier 4 of the Emergency Unemployment Compensation Benefits, V.I. Labor Commissioner Albert Bryan Jr. said. When the territory falls below that level, people no longer are eligible for Tier 4 unemployment benefits.
