WAPA seeking $15 million loan to upgrade metering system

ST. CROIX - The V.I. Water and Power Authority board Thursday authorized the agency to borrow $15 million from the Rural Utilities Service for an infrastructure project that will enable WAPA to read meters and reconnect or disconnect customers remotely.
WAPA will use the loan, if granted, to develop advanced metering infrastructure, officials said.
