ST. CROIX - Police are investigating a carjacking that occurred Friday afternoon in Castle Coakley.

The victim told police she was driving in the Castle Coakley area Friday afternoon when two men approached, said V.I. Police Department spokeswoman Melody Rames. The crime was reported at 12:58 p.m. Friday.

Rames said that according to preliminary information, the men displayed at least one weapon. The victim reported that the men took her purse and her vehicle, Rames said.

Rames did not have more specific information Friday about where in Castle Coakley the carjacking occurred or how it came about.

The stolen vehicle was described as a silver Jeep Liberty with fog headlights on the roof rack and no spare tire.

Its license plate was CES-048, according to Rames.

Anyone who sees the vehicle can call 911, she said.
