Muriel Agatha Charles
Services will be Jan. 14 for Muriel Agatha Charles, also known as Charley Poo, of Contant Knolls, St. Thomas, who died Dec. 30, 2012.
The viewing is at 9 a.m. at Pentecostal Church of God in Christ in Estate Hoffman, with the service at 10 a.m. at the same location.
She was 74 and was in her 29th year of working in the Circulation Department at The Daily News.
"Mrs. Charles was an example to us all through her hard work, friendly manner and constant dedication," said Daily News Publisher Jason Robbins.
"In nearly 29 years as our Circulation Cashier, she worked with dozens of other staff members and hundreds of vendors, collectors and delivery personnel. All of them regarded her with deep respect, and they trusted and relied on her happily. By our best calculation, Mrs. Charles personally counted as many as 90 million coins over the years. We were extraordinarily fortunate to enjoy complete confidence in the speed and accuracy of her work," Robbins said.
She is survived by her daughters, Julie, Allison and Cynthia Gomez; grandchildren, Jerrica Gomez, Kiarah and Mervin Thomas and Bradley Badenock; brothers, Corville, better known as Sonny, and Winston Charles.
Arrangements are by Davis Funeral Home.
