Lawrence Bernard Baptiste Sr.

Lawrence Bernard Baptiste Sr. passed away on Dec. 28, 2011, in Carmichael, Calif. He was born in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands on June 30, 1954. He proudly served more than 20 years in the U.S. Army and worked for the Department of Logistics for many years. He moved to the Sacramento area 3 years ago.

He is survived by his wife, Lauren Francis-Baptiste; son, Lawrence B Baptiste Jr.; daughter, Lanita T. Baptiste; daughter-in-law, Analyn Baptiste; grandchildren, Jalen and D'Andre Baptiste; sisters, Joan Gutliffe, Berenice Baptiste-Jonas, Cecilia Baptiste-Dennery, Leonilda Baptiste-Jarvis and Sharon Baptiste-Brown; brothers, James Nicholas Jr., Ivan B. Baptiste Jr., Neil J Baptiste Sr. and Dimitri Baptiste Sr.; sisters-in-law, Sandra Baptiste, Janice Baptiste, Josephine Baptiste, Sandra Francis-Williams, Eleanor Francis-Josiah, Betsy Francis, Laverne Francis and Demaris Francis-Hull; brothers-in-laws, Clayton Jonas, Glenfield Jarvis Sr., Steven Brown, Joseph Simmonds, Milton Francis, Raymond Francis, Vincent Francis Jr. and Lyle Francis; nieces and nephews, Pamela Thomas-Raymond, Stephanie Nicholas, Gloria Nicholas, Gabriella Nicholas, Noelle Baptiste, Janae Baptiste, Cecily Baptiste-Snead, Trinity Brown, Courtney Brown and Antigone Owens; nephews, Jermaine Jonas, Lyronne Jonas, Ivan Baptiste III, Stephen Nicholas, Louis Lattaladi, Glenfield Jarvis Jr., Neil Baptiste II, Dimitri Baptiste II, Lamont James; nephew-in-law, Alvin Raymond; aunts, Urlyn Cid-Farrington, Lucia Cid-George and Joy Cid-Housch; uncles, Wilmer Cid and Winston Cid; great-aunt, Ina Baptiste-Parrot; great nieces and nephews, Diarra and Dominique Raymond, Jahron Jonas, D'Erika, Darnell, Michael and Lasheana Nicholas; and other relatives too numerous to mention including The Baptiste, Milliner, Donovan, Faulkner, Callwood, Farrington, George, Housch, Cid, Saunders, Lindesay, Lewis-Brown, Smith, Sylvester, Simmonds, Stephens and Francis families.

Services with military honors were held at East Lawn Mortuary, 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento, Calif., at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012. Private interment will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are by East Lawn Mortuary.
