Why must we endure drag racing noise all night?

This is an open letter to Gov. John deJongh Jr. and Police Chief Darren Fahie:
For several years now, you have been made aware of the nightly drag racing on the Nisky Moravian Highway that is disturbing the peace of our entire neighborhood.
Our phone calls and letters to you have received only lip service. The only verbal responses from 911 have been: "We'll send a patrol car" or "We have knowledge." Both are followed by no action.
The word on the street is that certain officials and police officers are behind this activity. Is it possible that those who are being paid to enforce the law the very ones breaking it.
Every night this circus of loud cars roars up and down the highway like clockwork. Weekends are worse, with each car trying to outdo the other in a carnival of noise that begins at 7:30 p.m. and goes until 4 a.m. the next morning.
Gov. deJongh and Chief Fahie, you would never tolerate or allow this noise in your neighborhood, so why should we have to suffer this? It greatly diminishes our quality of life.
We implore you who hold the power and have the authority to finally put an end to this menace and return the Contant residents' peace.
