ST. THOMAS — A 28-year-old man shot in the face in Oswald Harris Court housing community at 1:16 a.m. Friday underwent surgery and was in “guarded” condition Friday night, according to Schneider Hospital spokesman Sam Topp.

“If he stays like he is, he should stabilize and get better,” Topp said.

Police were alerted to the shooting by hospital staff and took a statement from the victim at Schneider, but all they learned was that he was shot somewhere in the housing community, said St. Thomas-St. John Deputy Police Chief Dwayne DeGraff.

“He didn’t give any other information,” DeGraff said.

Police are asking anyone with information on the shooting to contact the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 714-9801 or 715-5516 or Crime Stoppers USVI tip line at 1-800-222-8477.
