The Charlotte Amalie High School baseball team used a seven-run third inning en route to an 11-4 win over Ivanna Eudora Kean on Friday at Lionel Roberts Stadium on St. Thomas.
The Chickenhawks rebounded from a 5-4 loss in the series and season opener on Wednesday. Senior pitcher Devon Williams picked up the win and classmate N'Kai Dowe returned from an illness to provide an emotional lift.
"N'Kai Dowe, he usually does that job and it made a big difference today," CAHS coach Kenny Todman said. "We came out a lot more aggressive. We were really seeing the ball, and he had them in the right frame of mind."
Sophomore pitcher Caleem Serrant was roughed up in the third inning and took the loss.
"We came out a little flat and they came out with a little revenge," Kean coach Lloyd Jackson said. "They came out hitting tonight. Can't take anything away from them."
The Chickenhawks connected on two doubles and a triple in their first three at-bats. Senior J'Vaughn Walwyn aided the onslaught with an inside-the-park home run in the third inning. Senior J'Moi Smith led CAHS with three hits.
The teams meet again at 6 p.m. Monday at Roberts Stadium.
