The Central High School Caribs scored a touchdown in the first half and kept the game close, but the visiting Ivanna Eudora Kean High School Devil Rays pulled away in the second half for a 34-6 victory on Friday night at the Educational Complex field.

The game was the tackle football season finale for both teams. The Devil Rays led, 21-6, at halftime, which was a significant improvement for the Caribs against St. Thomas competition as most of their losses to St. Thomas squads ended at or near halftime because of the league's 40-point mercy rule.

"My team's performance tonight was subpar. Even though we won the game, we haven't practiced in three weeks," said Kean High head coach Elroy Donovan. "Tonight was tougher than it was supposed to be. I keep telling them, don't underestimate no team, because each team gets better week after week after week."

The Devil Rays ended the regular season 2-4, while the Caribs went 0-5.
