FirstBank cruises past Education in softball action

Edgar Hernandez and Franklin Mercado were both perfect at the plate in their combined five appearances as they led FirstBank/Jewelers past Education/Ritz, 8-1, in Sports, Parks and Recreation Governmental and Industrial Coed Slow-pitch Softball League action on Thursday at Emile Griffith Ballpark on St. Thomas. Mercado had a two-run homer in the second inning as he drove in three runs.
Education/Ritz's top batters were Richard Battiste and Arthur Christopher, who each went 2-for-3 at the plate. The team totalled six hits and seven errors, while First Bank had 12 hits and four errors.
Dean Adams was the winning pitcher, and Frankie Brathwaite took the loss
