ST. CROIX — Freshman defender Jaleel Christopher scored to put the Good Hope School junior-varsity soccer team up for good during a penalty kick shootout as the Falcons topped Country Day, 5-3, to win the St. Croix IAA junior-varsity championship Friday at Schjang Field in Christiansted.

After Christopher, the team captain, converted for Good Hope, Keenan Massicott scored the finally tally for the Falcons.

“There was a great turnout and it was close all the way to the end,” said Daryl Rogers, the St. Croix IAA soccer commissioner. “Dion Christopher is the coach at Good Hope and he did a great job. Country Day was undefeated coming in and they played very strong as well.”

Both teams won their respective divisions during the regular season.

Delibe Amalu and Emile Brin each scored during regulation as Good Hope opened a 2-1 halftime lead. The Tigers got the equalizer late in the second half.

Levi Thompson was in goal for the Falcons until Massicott entered in the 70th minute. The teams played two scoreless five-minute extra periods before the shootout.
